As one of the old school geeks or nerds that got into that community in the 90's, and saw the change the Internet has gone through since than, miss that time.
That's why together with my company Speedy-Software started to get this community back connected.
As what we see as the main reason for this community almost dying, is the whole social media boom of the last couple of years.
That's why we try to "strike" back by developing an own social network, which will only allow potential community members to join, by setting a entry test which will only allow people with technical or scientific interests to get access.
As we are a small company with limited hardware resources on the hosting side, we will have to focus on the smallest amount of data being stored on our servers on the long term. This will lead us to a goal we anyway really want to achieve, which is better privacy than the "big guys" in this area.
We see this as one of our more innovative projects. There are a couple of others in development too, but these will get publicly announced at a later point in time.
While this project gets into a more intermediate stage of development, we're still delivering our normal software solutions and support, and are permanently working to get our web-design and webhosting services to the public and widely used.
